Bolaños: - We're confident for the Cup

Christian Bolaños insists his FC Copenhagen team-mates are confident heading into Thursday’s DBU Cup final after scoring an injury-time winner against FC Midtjylland to keep the Lions’ Champions League qualifying hopes alive.

The Costa Rican reacted first to a saved Thomas Delaney header to crash home FCK’s third in off the crossbar two minutes into stoppage time.

Before then, Johan Wiland saved a Morten Rasmussen penalty, denying the Midtjylland striker a hat trick, while Rurik Gislason and Andreas Cornelius netted for the Lions, who finished with 10 men when Georg Margreitter was sent off.

And Bolaños, whose thunderous header at the death leaves FCK two points behind second-place Midtjylland with one game remaining in the Superliga, revealed his amazement at scoring his first ever headed goal for the club.

- I thought ‘this is our last chance, so I’ll go for it’. I’m very lucky I had the ball in front of me but it’s nice to score in the last minute, he told FCKTV.

- It’s the best feeling for the team, coming behind for us. We fought a lot. It’s the best confidence we can get before the DBU Cup final.

- I think [the fans] are the best support for us. The next game we have a full PARKEN. We will try to win the Cup, that’s very important for us.

Midtjylland took the lead 13 minutes in when Rasmussen side-footed home a spot kick following Thomas Delaney’s trip on Petter Andersson.

FCK drew level moments before half time, however, when Rurik Gislason tapped in a rebound off a Bolaños shot, before Cornelius rose high to head home Lars Jacobsen’s free-kick and hand FCK the lead six minutes into the second half.

Rasmussen got the better of Wiland for a second time when the Midtjylland forward made it 2-2 with a header in front of goal, but the Lions goalkeeper got his revenge in the 75th minute by palming Rasmussen’s second penalty clear.

- On the other penalty I stood up for as long as possible, because I thought he seemed a little nervous, and he shot near the middle of the goal. The second time was also not a particularly good shot and it was not that hard to block, he told FCK.dk.
