Ludwig: De to bedste dage i mit liv

Augustinsson: Best two days of my life

European Under-21 champion Ludwig Augustinsson is back with the FC Copenhagen squad, having joined the camp in Austria on Monday night.

The left-back didn’t play against Celje but was on hand to speak to FCK.dk about his summer.

- It has been absolutely fantastic, and it's still a bit unreal and almost indescribable, he said when recalling Sweden U21’s Euro 2015 victory.

- There was no one who thought we would win, but we came together as a team and fought for each other, and that was probably how we won in the end.

How were you received when you returned home to Sweden?

- The day after there was total 20,000 to 30,000 people celebrating with us in Stockholm and it was crazy. It was fantastic. The prime minister was there, the media, etc. The final and celebrations in Stockholm were definitely the two best days of my life.

You had just three days extra holiday before you joined us down here, so it was not much of a break?

- No, I just relaxed with my girlfriend at her family's holiday home in Sweden, but I am actually quite fresh and ready for a new season.

Plenty has been said in the media about foreign interest in you. What do you say to that?

- It’s not a problem for me. I have been accustomed to it before, although not to the same level as now. But I've learned how to handle it, and it's about focus. All my focus is on FC Copenhagen and I have only thought about working again with my colleagues.

- I have been looking forward to meeting them again and getting started here, where I feel really good.

What are your thoughts about the upcoming season?

- For the club it is obviously to win the league and also the cup, just as we must progress in the Europa League group stage. I think this is also realistic, because I think the team looks really good, so if we can just avoid injuries then we have a great chance.
