6 Copenhagen-players on Danish League National Team

6 F.C. Copenhagen-players have been nominated to the Danish League National Team, who will play friendlies in California, El Salvador and Honduras in January: Jesper Christiansen, Lars Jacobsen, Michael Gravgaard, Hjalte Nørregaard, William Kvist and Martin Bergvold.

And 2 more could have been in the squad, as national coach Morten Olsen left out Jesper Grønkjær and Michael Silberbauer. Morten Olsen says that he knows what the two experienced players stands for, and mentions Jesper Grønkjærs need for proper rehabilitation after his injury in the autumn as another reason. He also indicates that F.C. Copenhagens eventual advancement to the knock out stages of the UEFA Champions League or the UEFA Cup will be taken into consideration.

Jesper Christiansen, Lars Jacobsen and Michael Gravgaard are the most experienced players in the Danish squad, having been regular members of the A-national team the whole year. Hjalte Nørregaard was in the periphery of the National Team before he left Copenhagen for Dutch Heerenveen in the summer of 2005, but he has yet to make his international debut on senior level. The same goes for William Kvist and Martin Bergvold, who have established themselves as key players in the U21-national team.

Defender Nikolaj Hansen and striker Lasse Qvist have been nominated for the U21-national squad, who at the same time in January will tour in Malaysia and Thailand.
