2-0 win in PARKEN homecoming

Streamers and tickertape welcomed over 24,000 fans back to PARKEN for FC Copenhagen’s first home league game of the spring season against SønderjyskE. Head coach Carsten V. Jensen named a strong squad as FCK looked to better the 1-1 draw earned in Aalborg last week.

CV made just one change to his starting XI, Martin Vingaard replacing Christian Grindheim and staking his right to a position on the wing. César Santin joined Dame N’Doye up front again and almost gave FCK the lead on three minutes, but his rebounded effort flew over the crossbar.

It was SønderjyskE who made the most of the early stages, hitting Copenhagen on the break to threaten Johan Wiland’s goal. First Lasse Vibe dragged an effort wide on seven minutes before a flurry of Quincy Antipas chances saw Wiland called into action.

The Zimbabwean striker first shot from distance into Wiland’s gloves before glancing a tight header wide of goal. In the 25th minute he etched out a further long-distance opportunity for himself, but his effort again found the Lions goalkeeper.

N’Doye bags ‘classic’ goal

After the away side’s prolonged spell of pressure Copenhagen began to move the ball quicker, and worked their way back into the game. FCK almost took the lead when Bolaños – bursting through on the left wing – received a well-timed N’Doye through ball, but the Costa Rican’s left footed effort trickled wide of Nathan Coe’s goal.

However, with eight minutes before half time the Danish champions did strike gold, in the form of a typical N’Doye header. The striker lost his marker Hallgrimur Jonasson as Claudemir chipped in a delightful cross for the Superliga’s top scorer to nod home.

Seconds before the break SønderjyskE could have drawn level but defender Anders Østil’s slight header from an inswinging free kick failed to test Wiland.

Own goal doubles FCK lead

Early in the second half Lars Jacobsen meandered his way through the left of the SønderjyskE defence but his low cross-come-shot missed both the far post and Vingaard. Antipas then counter attacked, cut in from the SønderjyskE left wing but fired harmlessly wide at the other end.

Just before the hour mark N’Doye linked up well with Santin and the Senegalese found himself free on the right edge of the box. However, N’Doye couldn’t work the ball from under his feet, choosing to chip Coe rather than go for power. His effort landed neatly into the keeper’s hands.

The PARKEN faithful would not have to wait much longer for a second goal however. A deep Bryan Oviedo free kick missed everyone but Vibe, who – distracted by Thomas Delaney’s challenge – indivertibly bundled the ball into his own net to give FCK a 2-0 lead.

Lions push through winning result

Copenhagen continued to attack after the goal, N’Doye forcing a fantastic save out of Coe from close range following determined work on the left by Santin.

CV made a double substitution, bringing in Thomas Kristensen and Grindheim in place of Bolaños as Claudemir. In doing so, FCK stopped up the middle of the park, making SønderjyskE attacks difficult to create.

Indeed, the pace of the game died as Copenhagen controlled possession, not needing to surge forward too often. Vingaard came off for Pierre Bengtsson with seven minutes to go and immediately went to the left wing with instructions to get forward.

With Antipas substituted, SønderjyskE found chances difficult to come by. In the 87th minute Vibe almost rounded off a blistering counter attack but Sölvi Ottesen threw himself in front of the shot to avert the danger. Vibe’s effort was to be the last of a staggered climax as Copenhagen maintained their four-point lead over FC Nordsjælland at the top of the Superliga.
