FCK U19s beat Qarabag 5-0 in Youth League

F.C. Copenhagen U19s earned a 5-0 UEFA Youth League win over Qarabag on Wednesday.

Graham Ankamafio opened the scoring in the 19th minute after an Abdul Daramy set-piece, and just two minutes later Gunnar Olsen headed the ball in to make it 2-0.

Viktor Dadason added a third before half time, with David Boison scored a second-half double to round off the victory.

“I think it was a bit of a difficult match to go into because it was an opponent we didn’t know much about, and the pitch was also a bit different than we’re used to," says head coach Sune Holmgren. "So from that perspective, I think we did really well. We created a lot of chances, scored a lot of goals and probably should have scored even more.

“I saw early in the game that we were better than them, both collectively and individually, and I asked the team not to turn down the energy and intensity, but just press the accelerator as much as they could. I think they tried.

“When we put pressure on them and tried to challenge their back line, there were plenty of opportunities, and then there were periods when we didn’t do it as much. Of course, there are always details we could have done better but I don’t want to sit here and complain about that right after a game that we won clearly and deservedly.

“It was great to come here against a fairly unknown opponent, do so well and win so confidently. We changed five players along the way, and everyone joined in, so I want to highlight the team and the breadth and quality that we have in the entire squad. I think that’s a pretty high level."
