FCK suffer first loss in hectic AGF clash

F.C. Copenhagen's winning start to the season ended on Friday with a 3-2 defeat to AGF in Parken.

In a hectic encounter, Patrick Mortensen and Tobias Bech but the visitors two up before Jordan Larsson pulled a goal back on 76 minutes.

Gift Links then restored AGF's two-goal cushion only for Magnus Mattsson's penalty to set up a tense finish.

FCK sought a leveller but despite 12 minutes of stoppage time couldn't find the net a third time.

“At least two of their goals that we should have avoided and we were too eager in general,” said head coach Jacob Neestrup afterwards.

“We created plenty of chances right from the very first minute, when Robert had a great chance, and then we also had several opportunities to equalise and to score earlier when they went 2-0 up.

“But we lacked some defensive qualities in crucial situations, and we were too open in our organisation at times. We were also not good enough in our lateral movement.

"AGF are difficult to play against once they get ahead. They are a skilled team that you have to respect, but of course it is a shame to lose a match like that, at home as well.

“But I like the boys’ ‘never quit’ attitude, and we may also need that in the future.”

Next up for FCK is a European showdown with Malmö in Tuesday's Champions League third qualifying round second leg.

The first leg finished 0-0 in Sweden, setting up for a crunch showdown in the Danish capital.
