FC Rosengård 1917 members agree on joint investment
FC Rosengård 1917 members have voted at an extraordinary general meeting in Malmö to accept a joint investment proposal from Danir and PARKEN Sport & Entertainment A/S.
The members' approval makes it possible for Danir and PSE to work towards a co-ownership of FC Rosengård 1917's men's first team, which currently play in Sweden's their tier, the Ettan Södra.
However, the investment is still subject to final approval from the Swedish Football Association, and therefore the next step in the process will be to gather all agreements in place and approved, so that the cooperation can be ready for the start of the Swedish season in March 2026.
"We are very satisfied with the support at today's general meeting, and we look forward to building on our good, neighbourly cooperation with FC Rosengård and Danir," says F.C. Copenhagen CEO, Jacob Lauesen, who has worked on the project for the past two years.
"Both Denmark and Sweden are small countries with small leagues, and together we are stronger. There are many synergies in our partner clubs that unite us across borders."
The agreement involves PSE and FC Rosengård 1917's main sponsor, Danir, investing a significant amount into FC Rosengård 1917's men's first team, through a joint holding company.
As part of the agreement, the men's first team's license will be transferred to a limited liability company, where the joint holding company has 49% of the votes, while the association FC Rosengård 1917 retains 51% of the votes in accordance with Swedish rules for professional football clubs.
A joint holding company – two independent clubs
The agreement will provide significant resources to FC Rosengård 1917's men's first team, with a focus on talent development, performance, CSR and commercial initiatives. The two partner clubs will establish a joint football organisation, which will develop the ownership of daily operations of Rosengård.
In the long term, the partnership can be expanded to include more teams.
“For two years we have had a fantastic collaboration with F.C. Copenhagen regarding children’s football, and we have already seen a great development here. Now we are taking the next step together, implementing the FCK model and working systematically with talent development. We will lead FC Rosengård’s men’s team up the ranks, and we will create a young, hungry team with lots of potential,” says FC Rosengård’s chairman, Håkan Wifvesson.
Both clubs will retain their independence and independent local roots.
“We are entering into this ownership with the ambition that over time talented, young players can be developed who can contribute to both FC Rosengård’s progress and F.C. Copenhagen’s Scandinavian lineage. Our mission is to educate the professional footballers of the future together,” says F.C. Copenhagen's development director, Morten Grahn, who will lead the work together with FC Rosengård 1917.
The Malmö-based and family-owned group, Danir, has been an active main sponsor of FC Rosengård since 2010, with a special focus on creating positive, healthy communities in the district, which has historically been one of Sweden's most talked about and socially challenged residential areas. The commitment has contributed to more than 4,000 young people getting jobs or starting education.
"For me and for Danir, it is absolutely crucial to contribute to positive change in Rosengård. We want to reach as many children and young people as possible and give them a safe, healthy focal point in life, and here football can do something very special. With F.C. Copenhagen's methodology and know-how, we can together lift FC Rosengård 1917 to something bigger and greater, which we can unite around and be proud of," says Danir's chairman of the board, Johan Glennmo.
The parties will now enter into close dialogue with the Swedish Football Association, SvFF, so that final approval of the construction can be achieved.
