Kotarski: This city, club and fans belong in Champions League

F.C. Copenhagen goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski played his part in the Lions' 2-0 win over FC Basel on Wednesday, which secured UEFA Champions League football in Parken for the third time in four seasons.

The keeper denied Basel twice shortly before Andreas Cornelius put FCK 1-0 up – but was keen to champion the team performance after the game.

"It's always nice to contribute to the team, and it's my job to save what's coming," he said."It's not a one-man-game, but a team effort. We've been really good in this qualification, period and we were also today, where it was a close match as expected.

"Basel have talented strikers, and they got into the game well and got hold of the ball. But our first goal opened the game and gave us more breathing space. Maybe we had been a little too nervous and came under unnecessary pressure, but towards the end I think we controlled it well.

"It's just a fantastic feeling and I'm very happy for everyone – the players, the coaches, the club, the fans.

"We send a big thank you to all the fans for the incredible atmosphere they created again. I've said it before that Copenhagen, the club and the fans belong in the Champions League, and now we're there. It's just fantastic!."

FCK will learn our opponents in the League Phase of the UEFA Champions League at the draw this evening (6pm).
