FCK to face Hobro IK after beating Lyngby in Cup

F.C. Copenhagen will face Hobro IK away in the fourth round of the Oddset Cup (Danish Cup) after beating Lyngby 2-0 in midweek.

Second-half goals from Youssoufa Moukoko and Viktor Claesson earned the Lions victory at Lyngby Stadium, with Hobro next up on 28-30 October (exact date to be confirmed).

Reflecting on the win over Lyngby, head coach Jacob Neestrup said: "The most important thing is always to win, and as the match progressed, we showed the difference that we wanted to have.

"There are always some favorites that lose matches like this, both in Denmark and in other leagues, and that's what a cup tournament is for. But I think that especially in the last 35-40 minutes of the match, the difference got bigger and bigger, and that's why we won relatively safely.

"It was important to move on and also to get a clean sheet again, so now we're looking forward to a difficult match in Haderslev on Saturday."

FCK travel to Sønderjyske for a Superliga clash on Saturday, before attention turns towards our first away trip of the Champions League's League Phase in Qarabag on 1 October.

Meanwhile, Junnosuke Suzuki earned his debut for the Lions in the cup clash at Lyngby and Neestrip was all praise for the Japanese player, who started in a three-man defence alongside Gabriel and Hatzidiakos. 

"I think he was really good, and we expected that too," said Neestrup.

"We have brought a young and talented player to Copenhagen, who was unfortunate to come with an ankle injury. But he has trained well and has looked strong, and he played with great composure and great consistency, and he is a player that we expect a lot from in the future."
