Two Gambian talents switch to F.C. Copenhagen

F.C. Copenhagen have signed agreements with two Gambian players Sheikh Jaw and Mustapha Nyassi, who will both join the club from January.

The two players come from the Gambian champions Real de Banjul, where they both played regular roles in the club's most recent championship-winning season.

The pair have previously visited Copenhagen for a trial training session, and F.C. Copenhagen have closely followed their development over a long period.

Sheikh Jaw, 18, is an offensive player who often plays on the wing, while Mustapha Nyassi, 17, plays at right back.

Morten Grahn, development director at F.C. Copenhagen, says: “The agreements with Sheikh and Mustapha are a good example of how we work strategically and long-term with recruitment at FCK Talent.

"The FCK model is also about combining international recruitment with strong local talent development - and creating an environment where players from different cultures can grow together, learn from each other and develop to be able to perform at the highest level.”

Mikkel Køhler, head of recruitment, says: “These are two exciting players in whom we see great potential and who have chosen FCK in natural international competition. Sheikh comes with strong offensive top skills - especially in his 1v1 situations, where he brings great speed, change of pace and good technique.

"Mustapha is a physically strong player with good defensive 1v1 skills and a really good passing ability. These are two players we believe have a future in European football and it will be interesting to help them take the next steps at our club”

Sheikh Jaw and Mustapha Nyassi will be part of the U19 squad from January 2026.
