Delaney: Defeat today really hurt

Thomas Delaney says Saturday's 2-1 loss to FC Nordsjælland was tough to take, but has vowed to help the team resurrect their form this spring.

Defeat means FCK sit sixth in the Superliga. It's also the first time since the autumn of 1999 that the team has lost four Superliga games in a row, and Delaney would naturally have liked to avoid being a part of that negative streak.

"It perhaps cuts a little deeper than just how the game went today," said Delaney.

"It's a difficult time, and we have to find ways to change it, because we have to stay above sixth place, so it's more existential than anything else right now.

"It's not fun at all, it really hurts. I've experienced a lot of great things at this club, and it's never fun to be part of failures either. But that happens in life, but we're well aware that it has to end with us making the Championship Round.

"It's now about living up to the expectations we have for ourselves and what this club is built on. It's built on championships, and we're not there right now, but there has to be a bottom, and that bottom right now is that we don't want to be the ones who get sucked into the Relegation Playoffs.

"I understand the fans' chants, but I actually think they were good to us. We're in a position where we have to take care of ourselves, but they also came with plenty of support, and we could use that."
