Copenhagen Red Cross hits sales record from F.C. Copenhagen donation
F.C. Copenhagen players' discarded training gear has created an extraordinary impact at Copenhagen's Red Cross store in the capital.
It has been unusually busy at Røde Kors Hovedstadens (Red Cross Capital's) second-hand shop on Fælledvej, in the Nørrebro areas of Copenhagen. This is due to an extraordinary donation from F.C. Copenhagen of several hundred pieces of discarded training clothes.
In December, Magnus Mattsson stopped by the shop with boxes and boxes of clothes, and the news spread so quickly that the shop set a new sales record two days in a row.
During Christmas, more than 400 pieces of clothing were sold, bringing in almost 100,000 Danish kroner. Total earnings are expected to reach 130,000–150,000 Danish kroner by the end of February.
The money goes to the local social work that the Red Cross supports in Copenhagen and the surrounding area, and a representative at Red Cross Capital said: "It is touching to experience how strong local cooperation and commitment from both F.C. Copenhagen and the customers can be translated directly into support for our local social work."
