Lions secure seventh place with 4-0 win at Silkeborg

F.C. Copenhagen secured a place in Danish football's European playoff with a game to spare after a 4-0 win at Silkeborg on Sunday.

Viktor Dadason scored after just 48 seconds to put the Lions on course for victory, with Thomas Delaney heading home for 2-0 before the break.

Substitues Youssoufa Moukoko and Viktor Claesson scored late in the second half to wrap up the match and ensure the Lions will finish seventh this season.

"First and foremost, I am satisfied that we have now secured seventh place. That was our goal today, and the best achievable in the Superliga, as the situation is," said head coach Bo Svensson after the win.

"We started the game really well, and especially the first 20-25 minutes we looked really good. We were intense and defensively attentive, but then gave away some big chances unnecessarily due to individual mistakes. But we were in total control of the game and had done our homework well.

"In the second half, I think it became a bit like a summer friendly, but I never thought the victory was in danger, and I am also happy that Moukoko and Viktor came on and scored."

Next up for FCK is the Danish Cup final against FC Midtjylland on Thursday 14 May, before the last game of the season at home to Randers on Sunday.

"I don't think it has been that easy for the players to focus on these matches, knowing how big a match awaits in Parken on 14 May, but I think we have succeeded well," added Svensson.

"And now there it is, the final, and we can start preparing and talking about that match, after we have, as I said, achieved the first goal of seventh place.

"I am looking forward to filling Parken on Thursday and competing for a trophy, because that is what F.C. Copenhagen is made for."
