Lions draw 0-0 at Malmö
F.C. Copenhagen earned a hard-fought goalless draw at Malmö on Tuesday to keep the UEFA Champions League third-round qualifier in the balance heading into next week's clash in Parken.
In a game of few chances, the Lions offered a few efforts towards our former goalkeeper Robin Olsen's goal, while shutting out Malmö completely.
"It was a match with low risk from both teams, and that's often how these qualifying game are, where a lot is at stake for both teams," said FCK head coach Jacob Neestrup afterwards.
"I think we showed great maturity and great control both with and without the ball. We just needed to create the big chance, even though we had the potential to do so in both the first and second half.
"But at the same time, we keep them completely away from anything. They had one half-dangerous attempt at the beginning of the match, but we got another clean sheet, and that's important."
FCK now prepare to host AGF in the Danish Superliga on Friday (6pm) before turning back to European action with the return leg against Malmö next Tuesday.
Neestrup added: "All in all, I'm very satisfied with our solidity and maturity, and our balance in the team. We have a reasonable starting point before the return match.
"It's neither perfect nor bad, because everything is still open, but we can decide it at home in Parken in a week."
