Fresh face at ‘Number 10’
Johan Absalonsen has become the first new face of the January transfer window, signing a two-and-a-half year contract with the club last week. The forward signed on a free transfer from OB and took part in his first training session with the FCK squad on Monday morning.

- I have had over four fantastic years at OB, for which I am very grateful. Now I’m an FCK player, and I am because they play for the title every year. It is the best club and there is a great personal challenge for me to earn a significant role in the team, said Absalonsen and continues:
- It will require hard work and I do not expect to be first-team regular from the outset. But I'm really looking forward to getting started and testing myself with and against the best players in Denmark. I'm certain this is a step up in my career.
The Dane began his professional career with Brøndby IF in 2004, yet his league debut was one to forget: a 6-1 defeat to Esbjerg fB. In the 2006/07 season he moved to OB and scored 18 league goals for the club.
The 25-year-old has struggled with a hamstring injury of late, and is expected to train fully with the first team squad from the beginning of February, something head coach Ståle Solbakken is looking forward to:
- He is a breakthrough, very strong player who caused us many problems when we met him against his former team. He is also a brave and intelligent player and I hope he will soon be ready to participate fully in training with the rest of the squad.
Sporting Director Carsten V. Jensen was also on hand to offer his pleasure at signing the striker:
- We have repeatedly tried to obtain Johan; it is gratifying that we have now succeeded. He is a player in his prime and I'm sure he will become a winner for the club in the coming years.
