F.C. Copenhagen Women promoted to A-Liga

F.C. Copenhagen Women achieved a historic back-to-back promotion on Saturday to secure the club's place in Denmark's A-Liga next season.

The 4-1 win over FC Thy/ThistedQ guarantees FCK Women will be promoted to the country's top flight over the summer.

The Lions have 17 points and sit second in the six-team playoff race. The top four teams will be promoted come the end of the season.

Óskarsdóttir starts the party
The promotion party began in the 21st minute, when a long pass from goalkeeper Ann-Kathrin Dilfer reached Emila Óskarsdóttir, who bypassed a couple of challenges before firing past Thisted goalkeeper Camilla Bonde.

The lead was doubled around the half-hour mark thanks to an excellent team-wide move all the way up the pitch. After several quick first-time passes, Asii Berthelsen found a free Maria Hovmark, who drilled low into the net.

Maria Hovmark found space on the left and from the edge of the box whipped the ball into the far corner of the goal to put the Lionesses 3-0 up at half time.

And, while Frederikke Bruun pulled one back for the hosts shortly after the break, it was FCK's Emmaliina Tulkki who closed out the match with a strike in the 81st minute.

The p[layers, coaching staff and fans celebrated promotion at full time, with attention now turning to the last game of the season on Saturday 13 June (2pm) against FC Midtjylland in Vanløse.
