FCK v FCM ends goalless

Wiland sidelined for rest of autumn

FC Copenhagen’s Johan Wiland is expected to be out for six to eight weeks after the goalkeeper injured a tendon in his thumb during midweek.

The Swede put on a great performance on Thursday as FCK battled out a goalless draw away to Stuttgart in the UEFA Europa League. Wiland suffered the injury midway through the game and subsequent tests have revealed he has badly hurt his right thumb.

Club doctor Morten Boesen spoke to FCK.dk about the injury:

- Everything indicates that Johan has damaged a tendon in his right thumb. This means he has to go through a minor surgery, and can expect to be back after a break of at least six to eight weeks.

If this is the case, Wiland has played his last game this autumn, much to the annoyance of the stopper:

- I am annoyed that this has happened, for I now can’t help the team over the coming period. But that’s that, and I can’t change it. Now it is just about doing everything I can to get reduce my injury break to as short a time as possible.
