Stefan Madsen

Farewell to Stefan Madsen

While Jacob Neestrup is stepping down as F.C. Copenhagen head coach, the day also marks a farewell to assistant coach Stefan Madsen, who has played an important role within the first team for several years.

F.C. Copenhagen has today announced that head coach Jacob Neestrup and assistant coach Stefan Madsen will leave the club. The mutual decision has been made jointly based on the current sporting situation.

Madsen has been a well-liked, central figure in the coaching staff under Ståle Solbakken, Jess Thorup and most recently Neestrup. He has contributed to many of the club’s great successes, both domestically and in European competition.

“We thank Stefan deeply for the great work he has done over many years, first in FCK Talent and on several occasions as assistant coach in the first team under several head coaches. Stefan has maintained a high professional level, and we wish him all the best in the future,” says Chairman of the Board of PARKEN Sport & Entertainment, Henrik Møgelmose.

During his time in the first team, Madsen helped guide F.C. Copenhagen to a quarter-final in the Europa League against Manchester United, and three Champions League campaigns — including the knockout tie against Manchester City. In addition, he has won two Danish championships and two Danish Cup wins.

Everyone at F.C. Copenhagen wishes Stefan Madsen the best of luck in the future.
