Ståle: We’re not thinking of the title just yet

Ståle Solbakken says his FC Copenhagen side played their best game of the year in today’s 2-0 derby win over Brøndby.

Nicolai Jørgensen scored either side of half time to secure the three points that keeps the Lions on course for the title.

“It was a very one-sided battle, and on the whole it was a professional effort,” Ståle said after the game.”

“We did what we had to, except that we probably should have scored a goal or two more.

“We have many players today who probably played their best game of the year - including William Kvist, who proved that he is ready to fight for a place in midfield.

“We created a lot of chances, about eight or nine openings and therefore we should probably have scored three or four goals.

“But we were not sharp enough at the very end or the last delivery.”

Discussing the title race, with FCK nine points ahead of second-place SønderjyskE, Ståle said: “We think not so much about the championship.

“For us it is important to stay focused on picking up on average two points in every match.”

Copenhagen and Brøndby meet again on Wednesday in the second leg of their DBU Cup semi-final. The first leg was draw 1-1 in Telia Parken earlier this month.
