Ståle Solbakken to set Europa League record

F.C. Copenhagen manager Ståle Solbakken will set a new UEFA record tonight when he leads the Lions out for their Europa League last-32 second leg against Celtic.

Ståle, celebrating his 52nd birthday today, takes charge of his 40th FCK match in the Europa League.

He will thus set the record for the most games managing a single team in the Europa League group and knockout stages, since the tournament was introduced in the 2009/10 season. Playoff matches and qualifiers are not included.

So far Ståle has shared the record with Unai Emery, who led Sevilla in 39 matches between 2013 and 2016.
