Neestrup: We can get better

F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup says his team can get even better following the 2-1 victory over Viborg on Sunday.

"It was not the performance we would have liked to have delivered, but if you want to be the Danish champions you also have to be able to win on a day like this," says Neestrup, who saw the Lions move top of the Danish Superliga, with FC Nordsjælland playing on Monday.

"I don't think it's undeserved that we won, but Viborg could also have won the game, and it could have ended in a draw.

"We lacked the freshness we have had in our play in the past, but we have always known that there would be periods like this during the season, and therefore I am particularly happy that everyone is working and fighting hard. I also praised the players for that afterwards.

"Of course we also have some individuals who were decisive today. Falk was absolutely crucial, and Mo was fantastic and performed at a very high level."

Mohamed Daramy and Viktor Claesson got the goals for FCK, while Neestrup was able to welcome back Andreas Cornelius to the squad following his injury lay-off.

"Corner has been a monster in training this week and he came in and made a difference today," says the boss. "Of course he also wants to score, all strikers do, but he contributed a lot more today as a focal point and keeping their defenders busy.

"It may well be that he hasn't scored in the Superliga yet since he came back, but it was the eighth time he's been on the field today, and we have won every time."
