Kenay Myrie

Myrie: Delighted to play my first game

Kenay Myrie got his first minutes playing in an F.C. Copenhagen shirt on Friday during a 3-2 friendly win over B.93 – and even though it was only an unofficial debut, it was a big moment for the young Costa Rican.

“It was nice to have my first game, and it’s something special for me and my family,” said Kenay, who joined the Lions this winter.

“It was cold! Back home in Costa Rica it is about 25 degrees right now, so I need some time to adapt and also get to know my teammates better and the way FCK play. But I am very happy to be here and will do my best.

“I also want to work on my English, because at home everyone speaks Spanish, but I learned a little at school in Costa Rica. When I was little, I also lived in Belgium for a few years when my father played there, but I only learned a little of their language there.

“I have been really well received, and I will also soon get my own little apartment, after I have been living in a hotel. And then my mother will also come over here in a couple of weeks."

Kenay spoke a lot with our former player, Christian Bolaños, before deciding to choose the offer from F.C. Copenhagen.

"Bolaños is a really good guy and a legend at the club (Deportivo Saprissa), where he works in the administration. I also spoke with Bryan Oviedo about Copenhagen, and they both said that it is a good city and a big club."

Kenay could make his debut next Sunday against AGF, as he is not eligible to play in the Champions League, but he was of course in Parken on Tuesday against Napoli.
