Mellberg: we switched off

FC Copenhagen defender Olof Mellberg spoke to FCK.dk after the full-time whistle on Wednesday night.

The Swede reflected on conceding four goals in the Bernabeu against Real Madrid and thought three of the strikes could have been prevented:

- I was pleased with moments of the game. You have to be alert all the time and never switch off. We certainly switched off on at least three of the goals. One goal was a good goal from them but the other three were poor mistakes from our side, he said.

- I thought we were in control before (the first goal) and after that as well but obviously when they scored the second, which was a good one, it sort of killed the game off. Then we really switched off for their last two goals.

Teammate Fanendo Adi, who came on as a substitute and forced a neat save out of Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas, also spoke to FCK.dk:

- I think Iker Casillas was very good today and he took up the couple of good chances we had. Of course the chance I got would have been a goal against a normal keeper but unfortunately it was not to be today.

- When you are playing against such a team as we were you expect such a result, Adi continued. The first two goals they got were deserved but in the second half we gave them the goals. It was mistakes from us and they took the win.
