Lions to face Brøndby in semi-final after extra-time win

FC Copenhagen will play Brøndby in a two-legged semi-final after beating Randers 2-1 in extra time of the DBU Cup.

The Lions went ahead when Federico Santander lashed home a free-kick on the hour mark, only for Kasper Junker to equalise with a deflected effort in regulation stoppage time.

But Mathias Zanka’s looping header four minutes from the end was enough to secure progression.

Nicolai Jørgensen, Yourself Toutouh and Kasper Kusk all spurned chances from close range, while Andreas Cornelius missed a one-on-one early in extra time.

And Randers had one last chance ruled out for offside with a minute to go - although replays suggest FCK may have been lucky with the call.

The win means Copenhagen will not play Brøndby three times next month - once in the Alka Superliga on 17 April, in between our home DBU Cup leg on 6 April and away clash on 20 April.
