Lions earn draw as Santander leaves it late

Federico Santander’s fourth goal of the spring rescued a point for FC Copenhagen in Randers and maintained their Alka SUperliga title challenge.

Santander robbed Jeppe Tverskov of the ball on 77 minutes and fired low past Karl-Johan Johnsson before the Randers defence could react.

Randers had taken the lead just moments before when Kasper Fisker turned a drilled Mikael Ishak cross from the left into the net at the near post.

FCK had a valid penalty shout turned down midway through the first half when Santander’s headed effort was blocked by a swinging Johnny Thomsen arm.

At the other end Erik Marxen blazed wide, while a neat control and volley from Mads Fenger was well saved by FCK’s Robin Olsen.

And Nicolai Jørgensen could have won it at the death for the Lions but his effort on the edge of the area was expertly tipped over by Johnsson.

Aalborg’s 2-0 win at Hobro over the weekend means FCK’s lead at the top of the table is cut to seven points with nine games remaining.

Next up for the Lions is a Superliga home game with Brøndby in Telia Parken this Sunday. You can buy tickets for the match here.
