Jørgensen strike sees FCK stretch Superliga lead

Nicolai Jørgensen’s second-half goal earned FC Copenhagen a tight win at FC Midtjylland to stretch the Lions’ lead in the Alka Superliga to six points.

The FCK striker pounced on a long ball glanced on by Federico Santander to slide under goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen just after the hour mark.

Mathias Zanka and Santander both came close to opening the scoring in Herning.

At the other end striker Paul Onuachu crashed a header off the crossbar as FCM piled on the pressure.

But that was only after Jørgensen’s tidy finish and the Lions kept their lead in tact through the three minutes of stoppage time to secure a crucial three points in the title race.

Next up for Copenhagen is a return to Jutland to face AGF in the league on Sunday.
