Johansson: FCK U19s in Germany to win
F.C. Copenhagen's U19 team can win Group A of the UEFA Youth League by securing at least a draw at Bayern Munich on Wednesday afternoon.
But head coach Alfred Johansson is not thinking about the table heading into the 4pm kick off.
"We're down here to win no matter what, because that's our approach. But if we end up with a good result in the last ten minutes, then we might have to be a bit smart," says Johansson.
"The starting point is certainly not to come here and just play for a draw, but to attack the game as we usually do. That's what we've had the most success with so far.
"We played really well against Bayern last time we met in Denmark. We dominated most of that game, except for a short period at the end when they made it 2-2, before Sahsah scored the winning goal.
"And I think we've only gotten better since that game and we've learned something from the games we played and become more stable. Our defence is really, really strong, both when we defend in our own half and when we press in the opponent's half. On that point, there has been a big development in the team.
"Offensively, we have also been really good, and we create many chances and score plenty of goals. On Saturday against Horsens, however, we only won 1-0, but we created plenty of chances in the first half and just needed to take advantage of them. In other games have looked really good.
"When we played at home against Manchester United we had an xG of over 4.0, so even though we only equalised to make it 2-2 at the very end, we created what we needed and it was just about taking those chances.
Squad status
Discussing his 20-man squad, Johansson adds: "There are a few players who have some minor problems, but in any case we will field a strong team, both from the start and when we finish the match."
