Jesper Grønkjær enters the F.C. Copenhagen Legends Club

F.C. Copenhagen will welcome Jesper Grønkjær into the Legends Club this Sunday and present the former FCK star with the greatest honour a former player can receive.

Grønkjær will be in attendance for Sunday's match with Silkeborg in Parken and will receive the special tribute before kick off.

He will also be in the FCK Fan Shop on Sunday between noon and 1pm.

Grønkjær's memorable career
Former Denmark international Grønkjær joined F.C. Copenhagen in the summer of 2006 after a number of years playing in Europe for the likes of AFC Ajax, Chelsea, Birmingham City, Atletico Madrid and VfB Stuttgart.

He announced his move to F.C. Copenhagen at a well-attended press conference.

"After eight years abroad, it is a big decision to come home, but if it had to be, it had to be now," said Grønkjær at the time. "FCK are an obvious choice. This is a club with a high ceiling and there's room to expand.

"They're a club with big ambitions in Europe and I can hopefully be a reinforcement for the team, and give the game some dimensions it hasn't had before."

A stand-out FCK player
Grønkjær became a significant member of the FCK team from day one. Across five seasons he played 167 games for the club and scored 26 goals. He helped the Lions to four titles and played in the Champions League twice.

Naturally, he ended his career with a stunning goal to crown a terrific 2010/11 season, scoring from distance against AaB and then lifting the Superliga trophy for the fourth time.

Grønkjær will now be included in the Legends Club, which most recently welcomed his ex-teammate Dame N'Doye too.

Grønkjær's name and shirt number will be placed on the front of the C Stand facing Øster Allé and Fælledparken, together with the other members of the Legends Club, after Sunday's match.

We hope to see a lot of FCK fans in Parken on Sunday so that Grønkjær gets the tribute he deserves. Therefore, we also encourage everyone to arrive in good time for the match and be in place by 3:30pm at the latest.
