IF Lyseng 0-9 FCK: New record win for Lions

F.C. Copenhagen recorded a club record victory on Wednesday with a 9-0 win at third-tier side IF Lyseng in the Danish Cup.

The Lions bagged five goals before the half-hour mark thanks to strikes from Noah Sahsah, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Roony Bardghji and an Orri Óskarsson double.

Lukas Lerager came off the bench to score twice in the second half, before Victor Froholdt and Denis Vavro added to the tally in stoppage time.

The win surpasses the Lions' previous record – a 7-0 home victory over Cliftonville in the UEFA Cup 15 years ago.

After the game FCK had coach Jacob Neestrup said he was glad to progress in the cup.

"We have delivered a professional piece of work tonight," said Neestrup. "We opened the game strongly, we wanted to win and we did what we had to – especially in the first half and towards the end of the game.

"I am very satisfied with the commitment and professionalism of the players.

"There were periods in the second half when we might not have been quite in the right gear, but that's how it is sometimes. For the vast majority of the match we did what we had to.

"It's not often that we close out these early cup games early, in the way we did today. But it was important for us and that is also why we fielded a strong team. We didn't have to chase the game and use an unnecessary amount of effort the longer the night got."

Mateo Tanlongo and Froholdt hade their debuts in the clash – the latter scoring after replacing Roony.

On the debutants, Neestrup added: "It was great to see the two debutants today, and now they just have to show that there is more after this. Mateo is already in the first-team squad, and Victor is a player who has done well for a long time in the U19s. He is a great talent who we believe in a lot and we will definitely see more of him.

"It's also great that Sahsah scored his first goal and performed really well today, so all in all there was a lot to be happy about. We didn't get any injuries either, so the substitutions we made along the way weren't for that reason."

Next up for FCK is Saturday's home clash with FC Midtjylland in Parken.
