France awaits for Álvaro

F.C. Copenhagen’s brazilian striker, Álvaro Santos, moves to french club FC Sochaux. Both clubs do not wish to publish any financial numbers of the agreement.

Álvaro completes his switch August 1st 2006, and is therefore eligible to play F.C. Copenhagens Champions League qualifier wednesday against finnish side Mypa-47. The match will be the last in the Copenhagen jersey.

President, Flemming Ostergaard says:

- We would have liked to keep Álvaro, but frankly we got an offer, that neither us or Álvaro could decline. Both we and Álvaro have for some time had an mutual understanding that Santos should have the opportunity to come to a bigger league in Europe, if the right offer appeared which is happened now. We will miss him both on and outside the field and I’m sure that our fans will give ham a warm goodbye on wednesday against Mypa.

The man in the center, Álvaro, says:

- I have had three fantastic years in Copenhagen. I have won titles, scored goals og been a part of a great team with great players. Me and my family have found many friends here in Denmark, and I’m greatful that the management of F.C. Copenhagen has accepted my wish to move on to french football.  I would like to say many thanks to the club’s numerous fans who have given me unforgetable support all the time. I will do anything I can to give them one last, great experience wednesday.

The hunt begins

In spite of the brazilian loss, Director of Sports, Carsten V. Jensen, feels the club is ready for the season offensively:

- With Marcus Allbäck, Fredrik Berglund and young Martin Bernburg we have three very qualified strikers in the squad. Anyhow we are always on the look for reinforcement and with Santos’ exit, we will do even more to hunt down a new striker to F.C. Copenhagen.

Álvaro made 120 appearances for F.C. Copenhagen and scored 50 goals. Last year he became partial top goal scorer in the club together with Marcus Allbäck with 15 goals in the SAS Ligaen.
