ForKBH Association and F.C. Copenhagen send Dream Team to Genuine Cup in the USA
F.C. Copenhagen and the ForKBH Association are delighted to confirm our Dream Team will participate in the Genuine Cup – a competition for young people with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
The international tournament will feature the F.C. Copenhagen Dream Team alongside around 50 major clubs from across the world. The Genuine Cup is the only one of its kind and aims to use the social cohesion of football to promote the inclusion of athletes with neurodevelopmental disabilities, such as autism.
Football is for everyone
F.C. Copenhagen and ForKBH Association have received an exclusive invitation that will enable the Dream Team to participate in one of the world's largest inclusion tournaments. The invitation is from the Spanish/American foundation, the Torras Foundation, which has established the tournament with the aim of increasing and celebrating diversity and multiplicity in football.
The ForKBH Association has received the invitation based on F.C. Copenhagen's unique collaboration with Høje Taastrup Parasport and the Dream Team – a football team for children and young people with disabilities and special needs.
With its participation, F.C. Copenhagen will amplify our message: Football is for everyone, and sport is a universal right.
The club is therefore proudly looking forward to Dream Team F.C. Copenhagen running onto the field in Houston side by side with teams such as Manchester United, Inter Miami CF, FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Seoul, Boca Juniors, Ajax and AS Roma.
Red Cross on their chests
The players who represent F.C. Copenhagen in the USA have found each other in a close collaboration between Høje Taastrup Parasport, KB and F.C. Copenhagen's partner clubs. The Copenhagen Dream Team consists of players aged between 16 and 20 years old, all of whom have different developmental disabilities.
However, even before departure, the players have already had their first big experience, when the team's very first training session – to their great surprise – took place in Parken. Here, F.C. Copenhagen's Rodrigo Huescas paid tribute to the club's newest representatives, and on behalf of the first team, he presented each Dream Team player with a complete kit, with the Red Cross on the chest.
First initiative from the ForKBH Association
Participation in the Genuine Cup is the first initiative from F.C. Copenhagen's newly established association, ForKBH Association, which works to engage more children and young people in the unity of football across cultures and backgrounds.
The association is non-profit and independent, and precisely this fact makes it possible for the Torras Foundation to support the Danish team with a special donation that covers all costs - including flights, accommodation, meals and local transport, as well as participation in the tournament.
By participating in the Genuine Cup, F.C. Copenhagen and the ForKBH Association will demonstrate how football can contribute to social inclusion, cohesion and great experiences – regardless of your background or circumstances.
