Focus turns to Wednesday's Danish Cup showdown with Viborg FF
F.C. Copenhagen face Viborg FF in the Danish Cup semi-final first leg on Wednesday – and head coach Jacob Neestrup is keen to get underway.
The match, which kicks off at 7pm in Parken Stadium, comes just days after defeat to FC Midtjylland in the Danish Superliga.
Looking ahead to the semi-final, Neestrup says: "The cup has always been an important tournament for us, and it has certainly not become less important considering our situation in the Superliga. We know what is at stake, and we will do everything to be in another cup final in Parken in May."
Last season, the Lions won the Danish Cup with a 3-0 victory over Silkeborg in the final, and the goal is to retain the trophy on Ascension Day in Parken.
“For me, the Cup has always been something very special. The all-or-nothing element can make it incredibly intense and dramatic, and it gives a special dynamic that I really like.
"I dream of our third Cup in four seasons, and we need everyone on the pitch to make it happen."
In Sunday's match against FC Midtjylland, Aurélio Buta, Amir Richardson and Geovanni Ndjee got their first official minutes in the FCK shirt, and all three are now preparing for their first game in Parken on Wednesday.
"The three debutants made a good impression on Sunday, and I hope that everyone in the stands in Parken on Wednesday will welcome them too," adds Neestrup.
"The support means an incredible amount to us, as always, and we must repay it with a victory and a good starting point before the return match in Viborg."
