Federico Santander suspended for two games

Federico Santander has been given a two-match suspension by the Football Disciplinary Body.

Santander will miss FC Copenhagen’s next two games after the much-discussed episode with FC Nordsjælland’s Emiliano Marcondes in last Sunday's match.

The Paraguayan will therefore miss the upcoming ties against Brøndby IF and FC Midtjylland.

FC Copenhagen has taken note of the verdict but we do not think that the procedure around the case has lived up to the standards that can be expected at this level. It is inappropriate that the chairman of the Disciplinary Body discussed it in the media before a case was assessed. We find it strange that the media was informed that a case had been raised before FC Copenhagen and the player.

FCK manager Ståle Solbakken said: "Obviously, we can not use Federico in these important upcoming matches but we cannot dwell on that annoyance.

“We will move on and we have strong alternatives in the squad.”

The match against Brøndby IF will be played Monday at 4pm Danish time at Brøndby Stadium.
