U19-cheftræner Alfred Johansson

FCK U19 vs Manchester United U19 preview and squad

F.C. Copenhagen's U19 team take on Manchester United in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday at Tingbjerg Idrætspark – and head coach Alfred Johansson is hoping to make it four wins from four in Group A.

The Young Lions have already beaten Galatasaray and Bayern Munich this season, before edging United 1-0 in Leigh last time out.

"We are focused on the fact that we have three games left, which must be played in the right way, and that starts against Manchester United. We'll have to see where we stand after Wednesday, but it's clear that if we win, we'll be in a good place. Regardless, we are going still going to be top in the group (after the game)," says Johansson.

"In Manchester we learned that when they press hard man to man. So we have to find other opportunities to play out. They had some other positions in their low build-up game that we need to be better prepared for.

"I was very satisfied with the way we played against Brøndby on Friday, and that's how we will also play against Manchester United. We have to work hard for each other in all phases of the game, and if we do that, I'm sure we'll be in a good place before the last two games."

Team in a good place
Noah Sahsah is sidelined with a long-term injury and Victor Froholdt is with the first-team squad ahead of FCK's Champions League clash with Manchester United. And even though both players have made an impact this autumn, Johansson would rather focus on the whole team instead of individual players.

"Galdur Gudmundsson did really well last Friday against Brøndby when he came on, and Neo Jönsson is developing really well at the moment," he adds.

"Thomas Jørgensen has also played some really good minutes on the wing, and Queyrell Tchicamboud has also fit in well with the group socially.

"Tactically, we have to respect the fact that Queyrell comes from a different starting point at PSG, where the style of play was as far away as you can get from ours, so he's working on that every day in training and he's putting in the effort every day.

"On the whole, we have many talented players, so all in all I think the team is in a very good place."

Kick off is at Tingbjerg Idrætspark (Tingbjerg Sports Park) at 4pm. You can stream the match via your FCK app and tv.fck.dk if you are a cardholder, subscriber or have an FCK+ subscription.
