FCK sign Man Utd goalkeeper Johan Guadagno

F.C. Copenhagen have signed Manchester United goalkeeper Johan Guadagno on a three-year deal.

The 18-year-old Swede switches to the Danish capital, having trained with the team for the past week.

“After our farewell to Stephan Andersen, we have been looking for a young and talented goalkeeper who would be able to complement Sten and Kalle in the goalkeeper group," said sports director Peter Christiansen.

"We have got that in Johan, and we are sure that through daily training with Kim Christensen he can develop further and become a really good goalkeeper for us over a slightly longer timeframe.

"He is a hungry and ambitious young man who wants to push and definitely provides us with dynamism and competition for this place.

"The preparation and knowledge of Johan has been done in the talent department, and has since been handed over to us. I am really happy that we can build this bridge internally, which will also be incredibly valuable to us in the future."

Goalkeeper coach Kim Christensen also spoke about Guadagno's arrival after watching him on the training pitch over the past few days.

"It has definitely been an advantage to be able to see him in training and games," he said.

"It's one thing to watch a video, but to see him join the group on the training ground and how he is as a person is a good opportunity. We are getting a well-trained goalkeeper who is outgoing and has great potential.

"He has plenty of charisma and is mature for his age, and now the hard work of unleashing the potential is just waiting."

And the Swedish goalkeeper himself is delighted to have the opportunity to progress at F.C. Copenhagen.

"It has been a good week and I have seen that the training level is high," Guadagno said.

"It has been a good experience. I look forward to being part of a developing environment, where I can learn from some talented goalkeepers in Sten Grytebust and Kalle Johnsson. It's a great opportunity to come to F.C. Copenhagen, and now I have to prove myself."

Guadagno most recently played for Premier League side Manchester United, who picked him up at Swedish outfit Brommapojkarna IF in 2019.
