FCK learn Europa League opponents

FCK fall to late Torino penalty

A Fabio Quagliarella  penalty deep into stoppage time prevented FC Copenhagen from earning a valiant point against Torino in their second UEFA Europa League group game.

Buoyed by recent wins over Helsinki, Brøndby and a draw with SønderjyskE, the Lions came close to a victory with Andreas Cornelius heading wide the best of the away team’s chances.

Alex Kacaniklic also went close for Copenhagen, while Stephan Andersen made a string of saves at the other end to keep to Lions in the game.

But it was not enough as a Mikel Antonsson foul on substitute Quagliarella gave the striker the freedom to sweep home from the spot and condemn FCK to defeat.

The result leaves Ståle Solbakken’s men third in Group B on three points, a point each behind Torino and Club Brugge.

The Lions’ next Europa outing is a trip to Brugge on 23 October.
