F.C. Copenhagen sign Aurélio Buta for rest of the season
F.C. Copenhagen can confirm the signing of Portuguese right-back Aurélio Buta for the rest of the season.
Buta, 28, joins the Lions from Eintracht Frankfurt and has experience playing in the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Belgian top flight.
The defender brings both speed and attacking power to our right-back position – an important area for sporting director Sune Smith-Nielsen to deal with following Rodrigo Huescas’ long-term injury.
“I am pleased that we can now add a player of quality to the right-back position,” says Smith-Nielsen.
“It was a goal for us in this transfer window, and with Aurélio we now have more options on our right side.
“Aurélio offers explosiveness and well-developed offensive skills, and he also has a maturity and experience that fits well with our squad.
“He is a player that we are looking forward to bringing into the team to ensure the right competition in that position."
Buta has previously played for Benfica, Royal Antwerp, Stade de Reims and most recently Eintracht Frankfurt. He is looking forward to his stay in Copenhagen and to pulling on the white shirt.
“I am very happy to come to F.C. Copenhagen," he says. “Both the club and the city are something that is talked about around Europe, and I have heard so many good things.
"I am looking forward to getting started, meeting my teammates and experiencing the club’s passionate fans."
Buta will be given the number 17 shirt
