Copenhagen secure striker

A deal has been agreed to bring the Norwegian league’s top scorer to FC Copenhagen. Mustafa Abdellaoue has signed a four-and-a-half year contract with FCK, and will join up with his new teammates ahead of their training camp in La Manga today.

Abdellaoue, who last season was loaned out by parent club Vålerenga IF to Tromso IL, scored 17 goals in the Tippeliga in 2011. The Norwegian's primary position is up front.

FCK sporting director Carsten V. Jensen was on hand to comment on Abdellaoue’s arrival:

- "Mos" has a rare ability to score goals. His movement on the field is smart, and he hits the target more often than most attackers. He has already shown its scoring ability last season with Tromso. Now we must help Mos find his place in Copenhagen, and we hope of course that he will be a prolific goalscorer for us. Mos fits in well with our other strikers in the squad and we have good faith that he can develop his game further with us.

Abdellaoue also spoke to FCK.dk:

- I am proud that I will be playing for the biggest club in Scandinavia. I know there is great competition in the squad, but I am convinced that it will develop me as a footballer to be up against so many class attackers. I've had a fantastic 2011 in Norwegian football, but I am very pleased with the challenge of a new league and it's no secret that I also dream to play for FC Copenhagen in the Champions League.

The striker has this month been to Thailand, where he has played two games in the King's Cup for Norway. One of these was against Denmark. Today he travels with the FC Copenhagen squad to La Manga, for the club’s mid-season training tournament, the Copa del Sol. FCK will face Kalmar FF, FC Anzhi and Shaktar Donetsk.

Abdellaoue began his senior career at Skeid, before moving to Vålerenga IF in 2009.

The 23-year-old has been given the number 7 shirt.
