Copenhagen put three past Chinese champions

FC Copenhagen finished their winter trip to Dubai with a 3-1 victory over Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande.

Captain Thomas Delaney gave FCK the lead when he flicked on a Ludwig Augustinsson free-kick past the Guangzhou goalkeeper just eight minutes in.

And it was 2-0 before half time when Andreas Cornelius was set free down the left flank to cut back for Nicolai Jørgensen, who finished first time in front of goal.

Guangzhou got one back when new signing Jackson Martinez’s skilfully dissected the FCK defence with a through ball to Zheng Long who rounded goalkeeper Robin Olsen to tap in.

But Cornelius ensured the victory for the Lions when he pounced on a deflected pass on the right edge of the area minutes after Federico Santander was sent off for a second yellow card.

The win means FCK head back to Copenhagen with a 100 per cent record from their trip to Dubai.

Next up for Ståle Solbakken’s men is a clash with Rosenborg this Sunday, before the Alaska Superliga returns a week later with a home tie against Esbjerg.
