Copenhagen drew 2-2 in Esbjerg

Copenhagen drew 2-2 in Esbjerg on Saturday afternoon after being 0-1 down after only 8 minutes, when former Copenhagen-striker Jesper Bech raced through to put the homeside ahead after a defensive mistake. But the guests came back, and Swedish International Marcus Allbäck equalised in the 17th minute after Jesper Grønkjær had provided him with a fine cross from the left. Copenhagen took the lead after 34 minutes through Michael Silberbauer, who hammered a cross from Atiba Hutchinson into the roof of the net. But only a minute later Brede Hangeland failed to clear a cross from Djemba-Nyrén, leaving Bech free to first-time the ball past Jesper Christiansen.

After the very entertaining and action-packed first half, the game dropped in quality and intensity in the second half. Esbjerg's Niki Zimling hit the post in the 60th minute, and Jesper Grønkjær hit the bar with a cross in the 80th minute, but apart from that none of the teams created any big chances. Eventually it ended with a fair share of the points, and Copenhagen coach Ståle Solbakken was overall satisfied with the result and his teams performance apart from the defensive mistakes that led to the two Esbjerg goals.

Copenhagen missed Tobias Linderoth due to a suspension ban, but Hjalte Nørregaard made a solid comeback on the central midfield. Jesper Grønkjær showed no sign of the groin injury which kept him out of Denmarks latest Internationals, and the whole squad seems fit before the first Champion League-game against Benfica on Wednesday.
