Carsten V. Jensen: - Three in a row!

by Carsten V. Jensen, Director of Sports

I have not yet had the opportunity to wish all those associated with FCK my congratulations on winning the championship, so here it is. For the third consecutive year the Danish Superliga trophy will sit proudly in PARKEN and as we are all aware, the title this year was achieved with an unprecedented margin with seven games still to play.

A look at the table reveals that we are 26 points ahead of second place. With coaches Ståle and Bård at the helm, the staff around the squad and not least the players cannot be praised enough for the truly outstanding work that has been delivered this season.

It's also good to note that in the two games after the championship was secured, we have been able to perform at a strong enough level to defeat Lyngby BK and Silkeborg IF respectively. It shows that we FC Copenhagen have built a winning culture that cannot be influenced by external circumstances; we just want to win, even if there are no decisive points at stake. It is in this context that our new players in the form of Jos, Pierre and Johan have slipped naturally into the team and helped us to maintain a constant high level of performance.

In fact, we are now only six points behind the record for most points gained in one season in the Superliga, which is 76. This record we of course want to beat, while we are also chasing the record for the most Superliga home wins in a row. Just now we’re at 10, while the record is 11 set by OB back in 2009.

Another record that has already been beaten this year is the number of goals scored in one Superliga season. Dame N'Doye has toppled this with 19 goals, thus surpassing Morten Nordstrand's previous record of 16. N'Doye even has the opportunity to improve this figure, and our Senegalese striker looks like a good bet to be the Superliga top scorer this year.

For the match against SønderjyskE we have invited all Nørrebro residents to PARKEN for free to experience the Danish champions live. The district is a natural part of the capital, and we look forward to welcoming as many from the postcode 2200 as possible. I would also like to offer a big welcome to our many loyal fans who, in the later stages of the match against Silkeborg IF, showed the great atmosphere they can create.

Finally, we offer our warm welcome and hopes for a good game to our guests from SønderjyskE and the refereeing officials.
