Bech: - FCK are obviously big favourites

After Thursday's 2-1 victory over Lyngby BK, the Superliga returns to PARKEN on Monday where there should be a rather good atmosphere inside the stadium. However, it is certain that a bunch of red shirted players – led by coach Troels Bech – will do everything they can to spoil the festive mood.

FCK.DK got Bech, Silkeborg IF's head coach, to explain just how well his team have done recently. The reds are undefeated (three wins and four draws) since the league resumed from the winter break. What is it that has gone so well for Silkeborg this spring?

- There are many things that have gone really well. We have started to stabilise our defence, and along the way we have also begun to play the way we want. A confidence has grown in our game; we trust each other and it gives us the belief that we can succeed, even when we play poorly as we did against SønderjyskE.

Was your last game against SønderjyskE typical for you at the moment: sensible defending and then a single effort that earns the three points. Is this your tactic?

- No it is not, it's not our concept. We try – against all teams, even the best – to take the ball and dictate the game. It succeeds sometimes and against SønderjyskE it worked, until Jesper Bech got sent off.

Does the victory mean you can now look to progress up the table?

- We can do well, but it doesn’t help us playing in PARKEN on Monday. We must look ahead; we must look to the next battle, because we do not get anything out of looking at the other teams. For us, we can only look forward to the showdown against FC Copenhagen. It is simply all we can and must do right now.

You led with two goals in PARKEN last September, but had to settle for 2-2. What makes you believe that on Monday you can once again go ahead, but this time retain maximum points?

- There's no doubt that FCK are the favourites on Monday. They are against all teams in all stadiums, but they are obviously big favourites at home in PARKEN. They have a strong team that applies to everything from players, coaches and management, but even though we may not be as strong, we can still get points. We currently have a really good team, we have confidence and faith in the job, and those are the things that can get us all three points on Monday.

FC Copenhagen v Silkeborg IF

Silkeborg IF and FC Copenhagen have crossed swords no fewer than 53 times and one thing is clear: a draw is not an unlikely outcome in these showdowns. 21 of the matches have ended in a draw; the Lions have won 21 and lost the other 11.

In PARKEN – where 25 of the 53 matches have been played – FC Copenhagen have won 14, eight games were tied and Silkeborg claimed maximum points on only three occasions. The aggregate score is 84-68 overall and 46-22 at PARKEN, both in favour of FCK.

The teams have met twice this season. The first time in September in PARKEN, where the guests were 2-0 up at one point, before César Santin and Dame N'Doye brought FCK back into the game. The second game was played in Silkeborg, but there was less drama in the outcome. Santin and Martin Vingaard both scored, while Christian Bolaños bagged his first goal for the club in a 3-0 win.
