Ariel: - a good start for the team

FC Copenhagen beat FC Vestjælland 3-1 on Saturday in their first friendly of 2013 inside PARKEN. Head coach Ariel Jacobs fielded different XIs either side of half time to get the whole squad up to speed.

After a quiet opening half Mos Abdellaoue got onto the end of a neatly-placed Christian Bolaños cross to tap home for 1-0 on 62 minutes, and it was soon 2-0 when the striker again showed his finishing quality with a neat drive off Thomas Delaney’s headed lay-off.

On 77 minutes Kris Stadsgaard headed in a third from Bolaños’ free-kick; and while Vestjælland did pull one back through Henrik Madsen the manager was happy with FCK’s overall display. Daniel Jensen also made his debut for the Lions after signing a short-term deal with the club.

After the match Jacobs spoke to FCK.dk about the performance:

- It was a good practice match. I think everybody contributed, and we are now well underway here after the New Year.

- We recycled and played the ball well in both halves, and it must be said that it was not easy, because the pitch was not so good.

Jacobs was left with a good feeling after the victory:

- We were excited for our first practice match in 2013, although we probably should have scored at least one goal in the first half – partly to delight our attending fans. But after half time we got going with our play again and I have a really good feeling from this win.

One of the players who made a difference in the second half was Bolaños, for it was he who created the chances for all three goals. The winger also spoke to FCK.dk:

- It was a good start for the team, a great practice match and a good effort by everybody. This weather is not my cup of tea, so I am looking forward to the weather in La Manga.

Copenhagen travel to La Manga on Tuesday for the 2013 Costa del Sol tournament.
