Copenhagen sign new right back

Amankwa and Højer extend contracts

FC Copenhagen have agreed contract extensions with two young talents, Danny Amankwaa and Casper Højer, both from the FCK School of Excellence. Their new deals will keep the players at the club for the next two-and-a-half years.

FCK’s director of sport Carsten V. Jensen spoke to FCK.dk about the new agreements.

- We have decided to extend the contracts with these two lads because they have done really well. They were part of the U19 team that won the Danish championship last year and have already begun to taste first-team action. Amankwaa has got playing time while Casper Højers trains with the first team. They are players who we expect a lot from a long way down the road.

- It means a lot that these two have come through our School of Excellence, which in recent years we have invested more resources in, and are now reaping the results. First we brought Cornelius, Busk and Remmer up, and now comes the next generation.

- The School of Excellence works hard and it gives us players who are very well trained and therefore progress well through the grades. We now see the results of the great and good work that is being put in.

Danny Amankwaa has already made nine appearances for Copenhagen and is pleased that his future is now in place:

- I am very happy for the great confidence FC Copenhagen have shown me. The new contract means that I can take it easier, focus on my development and show what I can do. It’s a good pat on the back, I’ve been here all my career and it means a lot to me and gives me much enthusiasm and belief in my own abilities.

Also Casper Højer expressed his pride for his new agreement:

- It's a boy's dream to come true. I'm really happy that it has fallen into place, and now I can focus on my development. It is my big dream to play for the FC Copenhagen team, but it obviously requires hard work and dedication.
