Allbäck secured the victory in Silkeborg

With a narrow, but well-deserved 1-0-victory against relegation-threatened Silkeborg, Copenhagen stretched their lead at the top of the table to a remarkable 16 point with only 6 rounds left to play.

After 14 minutes Marcus Allbäck scored the goal, which eventually turned out to be the winner. Jesper Grønkjær crossed from the left, and the Swedish striker headed the ball against the root of the post - the keeper got his hands to it, but thanks to a heavy backspin the ball crossed the line. Certainly not as spectacular as his last goal one against Hammarby in Royal League, when he excited the fans with an overhead-kick! After that game he was sidelined for 6 weeks with a knee-injured, so he was happy just to get on the scoresheet again, even though the ball never reached as long as to the back of the net!

Goalkeeper Jesper Christiansen had taken a rather harsh battering after only three minutes, when he bravely dived to the feet of a Silkeborg-striker, but fortunately he could continue. And he wasn't overwhelmed with work in a fairly quiet and uneventful first half, where Silkeborg were struggling to create chances. Relying on the well-disciplined defence, the Copenhagen-players looked like they didn't want to do more than necessary to keep the lead.

This picture was the same in the second half, which easily can be described as a rather boring affair. The victory was never really in danger, and even though Silkeborg tried to push forward towards the end of the game, you felt that Copenhagen had at least another gear if necessary.

Silkeborg is still struggling deep in the relegation zone, while Copenhagen - thanks to Midtjyllands defeat in Odense on Saturday - now is 16 points clear and actually can secure the title 100 % with a victory next Saturday, when in-form AaB Aalborg visit PARKEN.

But first there is the second leg of the cup-semifinals against Lyngby on Wednesday at 18.15 in PARKEN.
