Boss hails players after 5-0 win in last home game
F.C. Copenhagen head coach Bo Svensson praised his squad for their determination to put on a show as the Lions scored five against Randers in this season's last home game in Parken.
Having already secured a European playoff spot later this month, FCK set about winning this clash in the national stadium from the off.
Viktor Claesson celebrated his final game in Parken Stadium as an FCK player with a neat side-footed effort just six minutes in. Youssoufa Moukoko then doubled the Lions' lead two minutes later when twisting in the penalty area before squeezing home his shot.
It was 3-0 on 34 minutes thanks to Junnosuke Suzuki, who joined in on a counter attack to convert Jordan Larsson's lay-off. Larsson then got in the goals himself after the break with a double – the first off a rebound from his own shot, the second a curling effort from the edge of the penalty area after a corner.
Reflecting on the game, Svensson said: "I think we were especially strong in the first 20 minutes, when we played at a fast pace and at a very high technical level, both in our quick combinations and when we played direct at the right times.
"After that, the game probably became a bit more mixed, but I'm happy with the performance we came up with. The players showed the necessary hunger and presented ourselves well in front of 25,000 fans, just as we had expected, even though there wasn't that much to play for.
"We also owed them something after the season we've been through, and I'm also really happy that two big club personalities like Zanka and Claesson got this farewell.
"We also saw some other things in the game, and I'm happy that Moukoko came on and scored a great goal. He probably should have scored one or two more, I think he thinks so too, but he put in a good shift, working hard and showing a good attitude.
"It's completely understandable that he's disappointed not to play more, but as I've said several times before, it's only because in most games I've chosen a different type of No. 9 with some different skills that I felt we needed more in those games."
One final game of the season remains for FCK – a European playoff against Brøndby IF on Thursday. The winner will secure a Conference League spot for next season.
Svensson spoke before knowing who the Lions would be facing and said: "We all know how much is at stake in that match, and it's a bit strange to stand here and only know that we're going to play away, but not against whom or when. But we'll take it as it comes."
