Kasper Klarskov Nielsen leaves F.C. Copenhagen Women
F.C. Copenhagen will appoint a new head coach for the Women's first team, with Kasper Klarskov Nielsen leaving his position with effect from today. Assistant coach Fabiana Alcalà will take over as acting head coach.
Nielsen was appointed as the Women's team's first head coach when it was established in 2024. Since then, the team first secured promotion to the B-Liga in their debut season and subsequently also promotion to the A-Liga – progress that has laid a solid sporting foundation for the team's future.
“Kasper has played a central role in building our Women's team from its early beginnings to a team that is now taking its first steps in the A-Liga. He has taken us a long way, and we owe him a big thank you for his dedicated efforts,” says Henrik Møgelmose, Chairman of the Board of Directors of F.C. København Kvindefodbold A/S.
The decision to part ways with Nielsen is made in recognition that the continued development of F.C. Copenhagen Women requires new resources and qualifications.
“We have come a long way in a short time and are now playing in the best league. This places new demands on the sports management, and other skills are needed to take the next steps in the development and consolidation of the team in the A-Liga. However, this should not overshadow the recognition that Kasper deserves for the work he has put into the team,” adds Møgelmose.
Assistant coach Alcalà will take over as interim head coach until a new head coach is in place, and Nielsen leaves F.C. Copenhagen with pride at what the Lionesses have achieved in just two seasons.
“It has been a great experience to be part of the team from the very beginning and to contribute to the building and development of the team. We have left our mark in the history books, and it has been a privilege to be part of F.C. Copenhagen,” says Nielsen.
“I would have liked to have continued, but it was not to be. Despite the circumstances, I am very proud of what we have achieved together, and I would like to thank all the players and colleagues for many unforgettable experiences. I wish the team and the club all the best.”
Alcalà will lead her first training session on Friday afternoon before Sunday’s match against FC Nordsjælland
