FCK Women captain Julie Nowak to retire this summer

F.C. Copenhagen Women's captain Julie Nowak will retire from football at the end of the season, as she is expecting her first child this winter.

The 30-year-old defender returned to Copenhagen when the club was established in July 2024, made her debut that autumn. Since the winter of 2025 she has had a central role both on and off the pitch as captain.

"The things we have achieved at FCK are, for me, the perfect way to end my career," says Nowak. "I am really proud to be able to say that I have played a big part in FCK now being able to call itself an A-Liga team."

F.C. Copenhagen's head of women's football Romaney Pinnock says: "Julie has led the team with all her heart and great willpower. She is a captain who leads by example for others, and she has played a significant role in getting F.C. Copenhagen's women's team into the top flight.

"We hope she can continue to contribute to the club in the future in another role around the team.

"We are delighted to welcome the first lion cub to the FCK family this winter, and wish Julie and the family all the best for the future."

Nowak is a former double Danish champion with HB Køge and returned to Denmark to represent FCK Women from Italy's top flight, where she played for U.S. Sassuolo Calcio.

We will bid a fitting farewell to Nowak and the other players who are leaving the club, ahead of the last match of the season on Saturday at Vanløse Idrætspark. FCK Women vs FC Midtjylland kicks off at 2pm and everyone is invited to attend the game. You can also watch the stream live on the FCK App, tv.fck.dk and Pluto TV.
