Gabriel secures 1-1 draw with OB
F.C. Copenhagen battled to a 1-1 draw with OB on Saturday as Gabriel Pereira scored his second goal in a week to secure a point for the Lions.
OB opened the scoring when Fiete Arp converted from close range just four minutes into the contest.
Magnus Mattsson twice went close for the Lions in a game of few chances – his second effort in the second half chalked off following a foul.
But FCK eventually got their goal two minutes from time when Mattsson's set piece fell to Gabriel, who converted in front of 27,397 spectators in Parken.
“We played a bad first half in all respects, but put a lot of pressure on them throughout the second half and equalised at the end, so over 90 minutes it was a fair score in Parken,” said head coach Jacob Neestrup afterwards.
“We didn’t come out to the game like we should have, and OB were clearly better than us in the first half, even though we might have been a little better in the last seven or eight minutes.
"We were weak both collectively and individually, played too slowly, were too passive and gave them far too many shots in our area.
“It’s okay that you can have a bad day at the office sometimes during a season, but today we didn’t live up to the minimum requirements that you have to have for such days.
"After the break we pushed them back a lot, and it was a game we controlled, without them coming close to threatening us at the other end. I'm of course happy that we got the one point in the end after all."
Next up for FCK is Wednesday's UEFA Champions League play-off second leg against FC Basel in Parken on Wednesday. The tie is finely balanced at 1-1 after the first leg, with limited tickets still on sale.
