FCK fight back to beat Nordsjælland

F.C. Copenhagen earned a 3-1 result at FC Nordsjælland on Friday evening to make it two wins in a week heading into Wednesday's crunch UEFA Champions League play-off.

The Lions hit back after going a goal down early in the second half. Youssoufa Moukoko bagged his first goal for the club to level just before the hour mark – a powerful header from Rodrigo Huescas' cross.

Pantelis Hatzidiakos' calm finish from a set piece nudged FCK ahead with 15 minutes remaining, before Yoram Zague popped up with a rocket in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

"I'm very satisfied with our first 20 minutes, apart from the fact that we didn't create chances," said Jacob Neestrup after the game.

"We were in good control and kept them away from goal. But from the middle of the first half, they started to take over more, and we had a feeling that it could be one of those days where we could have problems against a skilled opponent who had prepared well.

"We also had a few players who lacked the final bit of intensity today, so we were lacking in the press, and after their quick goal after the break, we also made some difficult and wrong choices on the ball.

"It was a tough match for us, because you could see that we were lacking some freshness, and Farum isn't a place to be feeling fatigue on a fast pitch against a good team.

"But we showed a good work ethic, and good players came off the bench and helped make a difference. Of course we were also lucky that they had to play the second half with 10 men. During a long season, there are matches like this, where we still managed to pull off the win, and that is of course important in a tight and competitive Superliga."

The players will return to Number 10 on Saturday for recovery training, and on Sunday the squad will have the day off until they meet on Monday and begin preparations for Wednesday's Champions League play-off in Basel.
